An idealistic world without conflict and atrocities

My one true dream is to take away nightmares from others. In many regions children, women and men suffer and experience atrocities often qualified as war crimes or crimes against humanity. Yet, it is not a bad dream: it is reality.

My dream is therefore to turn this reality into a better future for all. I dream of a world where sexual violence no longer exists. Yet solutions exist, as the promotion of gender equality in both peacetime and wartime. I dream of a world where equal justice exists and where war crimes and crimes against humanity are punished. Yet solutions exist, as reporting these crimes, naming the responsible, translating them into justice and giving voice to the victims. I will not be able to explain where this dream of creating a peaceful world came from, but we rarely know why we dream what we dream. However, I know that this dream is deep, it has been in my mind since my childhood, and I wish to be able to achieve it. That’s why I studied international relations and specialized in peace resolution and understanding conflicts.

I worked hard to integrate decision-making bodies since I believe that it is in these circles that I would have the most impact in improving the world. I have observed decision-making at international conferences (such as at the Global Forum on Migration and Development), at the national level (German Federal Ministry) and at the European level (EU Council). My greatest experience, however, was when I was able to help directly and support migrant women and children in transit in Ventimiglia, a city on the Franco-Italian border.

This opportunity was offered to me thanks to an international NGO based in my home country: The Principality of Monaco. Now as my studies are completed, I want to help locally to make a positive change. I do not exclude working for national or international decision-making bodies but I first want to work on the ground and get directly in contact with citizens of the world, and learn more on the different mindsets, values and customs.

In that respect, I dream of a peaceful world, a world with no more conflicts and hatred. A world where we accept and respect differences, where we learn from each other and grow together. I agree it is idealistic, but it is still my main motivation and my dream.
