Participating as a mentor in the Tobitate Study Abroad Japan program was a deeply rewarding experience. Over two sessions, I had the privilege of engaging with highly motivated Japanese students who are eager to broaden their horizons through intercultural learning.
As an IT entrepreneur, I’ve always valued the importance of innovation, not just in technology, but in how we connect and learn from one another across different cultures. Speaking with these students, I was reminded of the immense power of intercultural exchange. We discussed the significance of stepping outside one’s comfort zone, and how meeting new people, particularly in Europe, can open doors to unexpected opportunities and ideas.
These students, brimming with passion and curiosity, reminded me of my own early days as an entrepreneur. We explored how technology, when coupled with cultural understanding, can drive both personal and societal growth. It was inspiring to see how they were already thinking about how to apply their learning to create positive impacts in their communities.
What struck me most was their willingness to embrace new challenges. Whether it was learning about different business practices in Europe or understanding the diverse social dynamics, the students were eager to absorb as much as they could. Their questions were insightful, showing a deep desire to not only learn but to apply that knowledge in meaningful ways.
These sessions were more than just discussions; they were an exchange of ideas and aspirations. I left each session feeling invigorated by their energy and determination. The Tobitate program truly embodies the spirit of global learning, and I am confident that these students will go on to achieve great things, both in Japan and internationally.
It was an honor to share my experiences and to see firsthand the next generation of leaders who are poised to make a difference. I look forward to seeing how they will use their experiences in Europe and beyond to drive change and foster innovation.
