A world where everyone can learn and dream together

“I want to create a world where education is not a privilege, but a right”.

This sentence has been the backbone of my movement since I had encountered a child who changed my perspective of what people really needed in education.

I was a second-year university student and I was an advocate for better education facilities when it happened. One day, I was on a walk in my neighborhood when I saw a little boy sitting down by the pavement, taking a rest from carrying firewood. I had a candy in my pocket and I went towards him to cheer him up. He was delighted with the candy and we had a normal conversation until he asked me what I did. I proceeded to tell him about my university life and my advocate for better school facilities. At the end of my explanation, he asked me: “Is school fun? I really want to go there.” I was shocked. A boy of age 14, who has never attended school! I asked him why and he replied: “Our family is poor and we cannot afford the school fees. Although I hope I can attend school someday.” After that reply, he excused himself and walked away.

Ever since then, his words have remained in my heart and I realized then that I was not looking at the root problem of education in our country. How can we talk about improving our education facilities when we haven’t been able to provide education for all?

Since that day, I have led a small team of like-minded students in my university to create a system of education where anyone can access lectures of any topic without having to worry about money or age. Our project consists of two parts: internet connectivity and a website. We have reached out to many universities and with the permissions from the professors, plan to upload lectures on topics covered in these universities to the people without having to worry about age, money or internet connectivity.

I have a dream for a better world where people can fully pursue their dreams without worrying about money or age to obtain education. A dream where people can be the masters of their own dreams. A dream in which the world is a place where education is not a privilege, but a right. It’s my dream and I will achieve it.
