Equitable, just and sustainable future for all

My dream is to live in a world where greed doesn’t rule our senses. A world where nature and humans can co-exist. A healthy and green world where people from all walks of life can work together and live harmoniously.

I grew up around nature, far from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Insects fluttered, bees hummed, squirrels chattered in the garden. I remember the days spent playing in the mud, chasing butterflies and fireflies, sleeping under a blanket of stars, staying up late listening to the foxes howling. There were not any factories around that time. And my little world seemed happier.

But then I grew up. Factories and industries started springing up around my little green world. They started clearing out forests, burning them, and setting up their dark concrete buildings. They belched out thick acrid black smoke. We could hear the din of factories throughout the night.Nature went quiet. The silence of the birds was palpable. The bees and butterflies were gone. My once green world wasn’t green anymore. It was very disheartening to see the destructive nature of industrialism and capitalism in the world.

And that’s when I decided to do something about it. I started educating myself about the environment and climate change. As I delved deeper, I learned how human activities are destroying the environment. Since then I’ve been trying to reduce my ecological impact on the earth. I quit meat and fast fashion. I’ve been trying to raise awareness about environmental issues to inspire environmental action. We all have a role to play in accomplishing a more just and sustainable future, but we can only accomplish this through action.

Whether it’s engaging in local climate and social justice movements, getting the word out to our friends and family, or voting in elections, I’ve tried to raise my voice. There are many ways to make a difference and many solutions that take us closer to an equitable and sustainable future for all. What matters is that we work together as one planet.
