FUTURE GENERATIONS WILL BE LIKE; “SUSTAINABLE IS OUR MIDDLE NAME

On a very normal walk back from school, reality hit me differently as I walked past the slum. the houses looking like they could be huffed down by any ordinary wolf, and the people looking no better. Scrawny and pail children looking around in the dumpster for things they could sell in the burning streets all day long instead of being in schools.

The yard’s stench was unbearable, flies buzzing, rats infesting the area, no sight of sanitation anywhere. The rain of last night collected on something-of-a-road, providing a vacation spot for the mosquitoes which later spread diseases, protection against which, this poverty struck region cannot afford. The disabled begging on footpaths, a man refusing to pay a woman her fair profit.

Reaching home, I stood in pitch darkness. another power cut, meaning no electricity for the next three days. Frustration makes mankind question and dream, and so I did. I dreamt of a world fair in every field, in good terms with everything. A world of equality no matter the gender, race, net-worth or beliefs. I wish humankind to be progressive instead of possessive or destructive. I wish no one goes to sleep hungry, cold and vulnerable. I wish for peace, nature and happiness.

But, does that help? Wishing is for weaklings. We humans are game changers, making the wildest dreams come true, not by “I wish” but rather “we will”. Just like that, we need to boost the morale of every single human into believing that we have the power to turn the tables, the power of information and technology, by which we can conduct more accurate censuses, which is only possible if it’s considered an international responsibility along with other major sectors like education, health, climate-change and food distribution. for reducing wastage of resources and introducing simplicity.

Small, untradeable land for shelter given to everyone born. We seek sustainability in every way we progress. If payment is given in accordance to tasks, not race or gender. education and facilities are provided to child-labor rather than snatching their income. aid is provided to all. resilient infrastructure is made to withstand disasters. everyone is given a fair chance in the race of technology and world decisions. then surely the world can reach the expectations we set up. Compromising, sharing and innovating could transform this planet for the better, no joke.
