I started dreaming about this continent in 2016 when I won a scholarship from the African Union to study in Cameroon. I decided to pursue this dream after my training, to guarantee radiant education and a bright future for our continent.
The Africa of my dreams has an autonomous monetary policy with a flexible exchange rate so it can be traded with any currency. It can transform its raw materials, its main export, into finished products through heavy processing industries. This requires establishing strong institutions, given the close link between governance and economic growth.
The Africa of my dreams is a highly integrated continent with road infrastructures linking all the states and a continental free trade zone for all African Union members. Integration will no longer be a story of ideology but a reality.
The Africa of my dreams will wipe out famine, poverty, and malnutrition so every individual can live beyond the poverty line. It is a place where everyone can aspire to well-being through socially responsible research and programs. As a country centered on humanitarian values with universal health care, Africa will inspire the rest of the world.
The Africa of my dreams seeks the ideals of pan-Africanism, with cultural values core to all basic education. From the earliest years of school, these will be incorporated into educational curricula, beginning by training the children’s trainers and supervisors. Universities will be equal to those in developed countries.
The Africa of my dreams will soon be a sovereign country, capable of making its own decisions.
It is an Africa free of its complexes. An Africa that manages to preserve its identity while ensuring quality of life to its population. That is the Africa of my dreams.
