As long as I can remember my goal in life has been to leave this world a better place than what I found it. Although I am happy and I see the wonderful potential of people around me I can’t ignore that there exist millions of people in the world who do not and will not have the chances in life that I do. To change this, I believe we need to promote and enhance education throughout the world, as again and again this has been shown to dramatically increase the standards of living, general health and cohesiveness within societies. These thoughts sit in the back of my mind, nagging me and reminding me I need to push myself to become better so that I have the skills and knowledge to help change the world.
To truly be able to influence the education of the world around me I have made education the core focus of my journey through life. I have lived in four continents, spent time in the military, gone overseas for charity projects plus taken many opportunities that presented themselves to me. This has led me to connect with individuals from across the globe all with different experiences and visions of what the future holds. Although I have seen hardship and suffering, what brings me joy is seeing that through it all is the belief that people truly wish to be good. People wish for themselves and their loved ones to be safe, they want health and security and when these things are accomplished, we see people and societies thrive. I aim to make that a reality.
This doesn’t mean my journey is finished. I wish to find myself in a position where I can change and enhance policy, where I can push the need for quality and widespread education. I still have much to learn before I can put myself in the global stage and be part of international policy making, however, I believe I have the tools to make my dream come true.
