I was in the UK when the Libyan revolution happened in 2011. I could not believe what was happening, knowing the regime would not let go of power smoothly. Still, we worked to help the people by sending medical care, ambulances, and other essentials. I made sure to be as useful as possible by being online and bringing the Libyan case to the world.
Libya continues to experience difficult times since the revolution, as corrupt officials, warlords, and criminals intervened and disrupted the complex map of tribal leadership. The burden I hold is tremendous, as I’ve witnessed the weakening of my country and the destruction of its sovereignty. In 2017, I headed back to Libya to help rebuild its falling pieces after a long period of hardship for my fellow Libyans. I promised myself to do good and spread that good to as far as I can.
I am working on a program that will provide individualized online education to children in schools across Libya. It will give them an opportunity to be tutored by Libyan adults who have experienced the good and the bad and want to give back what they learned to the community. The program focuses on passing down the essential principles of our Libyan traditions and beliefs to our children: peace, cooperation, and respect. This will lead to a generation that wants to do good, help each other, and—most importantly—help Libya stand up again. Eventually, we want to spread this project and its ideas worldwide.
My dream is to inspire the young Libyan generation to enrich the country with characters that will help lift it toward prosperity, peace, and harmony. I believe this is possible through the help of the Ministry of Education and international organizations. I am available to clarify this dream and to interview tutors, so feel free to contact me.
