I remember being in high school and struggling because I did not know how to use a computer. I was new at school and wanted to learn a new skill, so I decided to take on computer practice as a subject, but things got difficult because I was not progressing and I considered dropping the subject.
That changed when we were introduced to a new passionate computer teacher who ignited my ambition. She made me understand that you can get so much more out of life if you just give it your all. Suddenly, I started to love technology, and my journey began.
As a professional, I have been involved in using digital technologies to empower youth and communities through ICT innovations. I attended various international programs, which taught me the importance of communication and networking. I met youth from all over the world who are driven, believe in change, and take strides to transform their surroundings, communities, and the world.
I currently volunteer as a computer teacher at a learning center that caters to individuals from the age of 18 and above who don’t have access to ICT infrastructure. I encourage them to work on all their endeavors with passion, strive forward, and never give up on themselves.
Investing in growth, pushing forward and believing in yourself is essential. Little by little, your dream will grow and eventually bring about change. I can only hope that with every step we take, we impact someone’s life, and that someone impacts someone else’s life. We cannot continue to wait for other people to be or bring the change that is needed. It starts with me. It starts with you. It only requires us to take one step forward.
