Guardians of Life

For I was born in the heart of the Pyrenees, so close to the starry sky,

I dreamed of becoming an astronaut traveling across galaxies with an infinite ice cream supply. As I grew up, I discovered and learned many things from myself, especially while listening to that little voice from inside. In my case, it made me realize how good it feels to be kind and make people smile! With time and dedication, it had a positive and meaningful effect on me! So, I ended up embracing it and finding a way

to keep dreaming—but as a down-to-earth young man.

In Andorra, as in the rest of Europe, a lot of people are not really aware of how lucky we are. It is true that our youth faces very competitive academic and labor markets, but it may seem little compared to what happens in other parts of the world where youth have less opportunities, security, or freedom. If you ask me, we need more historical and cultural perspectives to understand what we’ve been through to get where we are. On top of that, we live in a system in which staying in our own bubbles and turning a blind eye to the world is too easy, no matter how well informed we are. Probably, wild consumerism and the cult of individualism contributed greatly to this situation, and it is so rooted that it seems impossible to modify.

How brave it is to be a dreamer and devote yourself to a worthy cause when there are so many things keeping us distracted?

In International Organizations (IOs), sometimes real change may take longer than expected, but as a proverb says: “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” I believe that IOs have the power and the fundamental purpose to join efforts toward common objectives, like the SDGs. Currently, I promote learning opportunities aimed at fostering professional growth at a major international organization in Europe that supports the SDGs.

My goal is to upskill our staff so we can keep making a difference at the highest level, but I dream of a more effective and empathetic system in terms of humanitarian aid and sustainable development. Without asking for it, we became the guardians of life on our planet—and its fate. Let’s commit together to ensure a better present and a safer future for us all.
