My dream is simple: to live in a world where humans build healthier relationships with other humans, other species, and Mother Earth.
Growing up in a city and living a modernized lifestyle subconsciously made me into a self-centered individual. I never thought about the impact of this lifestyle on the overall health of the planet, its oceans, land, and air. I conformed with my society, graduated, and had a successful
career. But I was suffocating. Working in a cubicle and moving around in a closed metal box only got me more disconnected from nature. I felt completely lost.
Living in the Middle East, a zone covered with conflicts and wars, filled my soul with sorrow. As I was digesting the news about the stories of oppression around us, I was losing faith in humanity. Then I started to wonder: why would humankind do this to one another? The war of being against being.
I never really linked these two points together, the modernized lifestyle and conflicts, until I attended a few eye-opening summits by One Young World, the Global Peace Initiative of Women, and Dharma Drum Mountain. These experiences have helped me connect the dots and realize that being disconnected from Earth and being self-centered are actually directly linked to losing our inner peace, which then leads to losing our compassion toward our surroundings, increasing the collective suffering.
I believe that creating a peaceful world begins with us being the best possible human beings. With that in mind, I have set the intention to shift my career and joined the One% app team, a global volunteering platform that encourages the spirit of service to others and spreading kindness all around. Our vision is to have one billion people donate 1% of their time to a good cause regularly.
Following my passion for health, I have also decided to study Nutritional Therapy, hoping to employ my knowledge to help people find a better quality of life. Human well-being is deeply connected with Earth’s well-being, and they are inseparable. Nature nurtures humans, both physically and psychologically, and recharges us with health and positivity. Humans, having learned to appreciate nature, will show it respect and protect its healthy oceans, land, air, and biodiversity. This is the message I aim to spread, as getting back to nature is our therapy.
