One of the core themes of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is the need for knowledge co-creation and revitalized global solidarity. Due to my volunteering background, I have witnessed firsthand the added value of bringing activists and NGOs together to empower knowledge- exchange and coalition building. Also, I have learned that public decision- makers should support visionary youth. Currently, there is limited (and sometimes only symbolic) youth participation within policies and decisions which affect them. However, it is important to include the youth in consultations and the decision-making processes in a meaningful way. This is necessary if we want those policies to be effective and address the actual needs of young people.
I continue to work with various international networks, and have co-founded the Erasmus Global Partnerships (EGP) initiative, which brings young activists and entrepreneurs together, offline and online. The platform allows them to engage in knowledge exchange, project and policy co-creation, and the building of global citizenship. I hope this initiative will continue to build partnerships across borders and stereotypes. I also find it essential to support other activists’ visions and initiatives, and establish a community-interest organization of experts in progressive international development, cooperation, and peace-building.
I dream of a world where social movements have strong and supportive partnerships. The world needs more leaders who share a passion for peace, sustainable entrepreneurship, environmental action, and mindfulness. It is our responsibility to support each other and inspire the new generation.
