Equal education through equal opportunities

Education is a power that can determine the future of the world. we can attain this enormous power through small actions.

I am from a bilingual country where we speak both Russian and Kyrgyz. In 2019 I won a scholarship to study for a year in the USA for free. I won this scholarship because I studied English through self-study or tutoring. Learning English had positive externalities in my life.

The year in the USA was meaningful: I got to meet incredible people, travel for free, expand my education, and study things I would never have had a chance to. I would give credit for this education to a foreign language such as English.

Many people do not have opportunities for an excellent education in some countries like mine. Abroad you can get an education for free for your merits or needs. We do not have a lot of these opportunities in Kyrgyzstan. Unleashing these opportunities is a road to education. To unleash these opportunities, you need excellent skills in some areas, one of which is a foreign language.

During COVID-19, a lot of kids of medical workers had to stay alone while doctors were saving our lives. My friend and I came up with a project that could allow us to give back to our doctors by teaching their kids English. Most medical workers cannot pay for additional English courses.

We have developed a “Thank School ‘’ project that for now aimed at teaching English doctors children, medical students, and some doctors. Acting this small like teaching English, it opens up to them a broader opportunity to expand their education. People from different countries can share and learn, for which we need a common ground. English.

My dream is to make education accessible to marginalized groups of people. I want to expand this project and recruit more volunteers to teach other marginalized groups like orphans, low-income, people that suffer from disabilities, etc. I believe this would open up a road for a successful future, a road that would allow them to gain an excellent education and further give back to their communities.

I believe this minor action would enable people to gain a more thorough understanding of the world. Equal opportunities lead to equal education, which means education opened up with English too. I believe in a just world, world solidarity, I dream of equal opportunities for equal education.
