When I was a kid I liked to watch a lot of cartoons and I was obsessed with one that was about a group of friends that practiced all kinds of sports like soccer, basketball, cycling, skating, baseball, street field hockey and many other normal and extreme sports that made them go through many adventures. My friends and I always tried to practice the sports they did because we liked it a lot and felt it was the coolest in the world, but unfortunately in the place where I grew up there are only soccer and basketball fields, there are no more places or facilities to practice other kind of normal or extreme sports.
That is why I have always dreamed that small towns could have more recreational places for children and youth. These spaces would not only allow them to explore their interests and develop skills, but would also foster the building of meaningful relationships and strengthen their sense of belonging and community.
Imagine a community in which children and youth have a variety of recreational venues where they can go to explore their interests, discover new passions, and develop skills. In my vision, these recreational spaces offer a wide range of activities, such as sports, art, music, theater, film, technology, and outdoor activities. These places would be specifically designed to meet the needs and interests of children and youth, offering a safe and stimulating environment where they can have fun and learn at the same time.
The importance of recreational places for children and youth lies in their ability to foster personal growth and skill development. These spaces would provide opportunities for children and youth to explore different disciplines and discover their hidden talents.
In addition to individual development, these recreational spaces would also foster the building of meaningful relationships among children and youth. By providing a common meeting place, children and youth would have the opportunity to meet people with similar interests and establish lasting friendships. These social interactions would strengthen their sense of belonging and community, helping them to develop social skills, empathy and respect for others.
