Our life on land is precious as this is our only known home. I have a dream where the land I live on, is full of trees to give clean breathable air and has clean water to sustain life. As a child educator by profession and SDG enthusiast, it is my hope that I get to encourage those around me through my actions how to achieve the “Green earth” we look forward to in the coming decade and beyond.
I sigh heavily when long term effects of deforestation hit me directly and plunge many more families into extreme hunger and die as a result of this and sadly it continues to get worse until all people from all countries, walks of life and cultures team up for a common goal to save mother earth. It is really the fight of our lives. This kind of change can only be experienced when there is sufficient knowledge as to what is really going on and nipping it in the bud so that a sustainable life is experienced.
Looking at all the sustainable development goals give countries a much-needed responsibility to ensure they address the current challenges faced by all so that there is an achievement of health, wealth, education and overall sustainable life on the planet. It would be such a wonderful life on land if action is taken. By planting more trees, protecting our trees and preserving our trees. Tha way, we eradicate the burning of firewood for fuel and turn to green sources of energy, preserve our rivers and clean up the air.
My dream can only be realized when many more people get accountable for their actions by engaging in activities that make mother earth smile and bless us with her kindness. Empathy breeds kindness and that will definitely make me smile. We can do it and we will. I trust in me and you. Let’s get the wonderful life on land we all truly need.
